About the Old Guy
The Old Guy has had an extensive number of experiences with all things Japanese, including these 6 premium sakes from my favorite outlet in New York.
Who is the Old guy?
I am a native New Yorker, born in 1955. I lived in Queens, went to high school in Manhattan, and rode the subway for entertainment when it cost 10 cents a ride. I graduated from MIT in 1977 with a B.S. in Chemistry. I got my Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Columbia University in New York (under the guidance of Koji Nakanishi) in 1982. I did a post-doctoral fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and a second at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia (under the gold nose at 3500 Market Street). I have worked in regulatory food chemistry since 1988. There has been a lot of water under these bridges and I am proud to say that my basic, two step growth philosophy - 1: Pay Attention and 2: Be Curious - has served me extremely well over the years. I am here to share what I can with you.
